POSITION SUMMARY
Incumbent is responsible for working with a team to ensure that Precor?s production lines are up and running efficiently. The position involves the day to day support of high volume manufacturing lines. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for the development of processes, tools, and documentation supporting the production facility. This person will also be responsible for Idea to Product (I2P) projects that include development of tooling, processes, and process documentation as well as assisting in the design, development and testing of Precor's health and fitness products. This position also includes activities supporting continuous improvement, product cost reduction, and process time reduction.
SCOPE OF POSITION
Incumbent reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Position involves a high degree of interface with all departments and plants. Organization, follow through and communication skills are important factors in daily administration of this position. The incumbent will be expected to work independently and with others using technical judgment and overall knowledge of Precor's mission and strategies. The incumbent will also participate on cross functional teams involving members of other departments.

Understands and uses the philosophy and tools of Lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability. Serves as an engineering resource in teaching the use of these tools to others within Precor.
Manufacturing Engineering:
Develops processes, tools, and fixtures that are safe for use, safety is of highest concern.
The ideal candidate ?owns? his or her assembly lines and processes and they are a member of the operations manufacturing team.
Understands and works to implement lean manufacturing and other process improvement strategies in a fast paced high volume environment.
Uses and understands Operations Metrics to strive for continuous improvement.
Researches and develops core-manufacturing technologies required by Precor to sustain or improve its competitive lead.
Supports design and documentation of Idea to Product (I2P) projects to ensure the product and processes meet or exceed the safety, functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability requirements of Precor.
Supports sustainability efforts including Zero Waste Manufacturing.
Designs and develops tooling for in and out of house, which meets safety, functional, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements of Precor.
Designs and documents fixes/changes to existing products for enhancing or amending previous designs.
Understands the importance of cost reduction activities. Works with a team to evaluate current processes and designs, then suggests and helps implement appropriate changes.
Effectively communicates information to co-workers, customers, and suppliers, which they require to do their jobs.
The communication must be objective and accomplished in a neutral to positive manner.
Able to effectively communicate plans, projects, and capabilities to management including the Senior Management Team (SMT) at Precor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE requirements
Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job, will be considered.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Training in automation and robotics a plus.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience.
Electromechanical manufacturing experience required.
Experience
Experience with Machine Shop operations highly desirable.
Experience with steel fabrication and welding desirable.
Experience in design for manufacture and assembly.
Experience with industry standard CAD systems for design and documentation.
Experience using standard test and measurement equipment to quantify manufacturing margins and problem solving.
Experience Handling simultaneous tasks in an environment that can be stressful at times.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Works in normal office and manufacturing conditions where some PPE is required. There may be some occasional outside travel to vendors, etc.

Light physical effort in an office and manufacturing environment. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
