Job Description:

What is the role

Shell Trading integrates a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, natural gas electrical power and chemicals. Based in the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, United Arab Emirates, The Philippines and Russia and with over 2000 employees. On any one day we can trade over 11 million barrels of crude and oil products and 9 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

We also provide marine expertise to over 40 operating units and manage a fleet of around 45 gas and oil tankers and trade 45 million megawatt hours of power quarterly. Shell Trading (US) Company (STUSCO) provides a comprehensive portfolio of products and services associated with crude oil and products trading, including shipping services.

Shell Trading (US) Company provides a single global market interface for the trading of Shell’s flows of crude oils, refined products and feedstocks, adding around 5 million barrels of physical crude and oil products per day to Shell Trading’s overall volumes.

Supply & Trading Operations for the Low Carbon Fuels team is accountable for execution of all movements on the Low Carbon Fuels trade books in STUSCO & fulfilment of supply to Shell's distribution terminals by Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS).

In terms of product slate, this includes both domestic and international finished grades of denatured as well as undenatured ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, renewable diesel blends. Source points for product include biofuels plants, traded hub locations, and product already in transit.

Modes of transport managed include marine (both Jones Act as well as foreign flag vessels, with multiple charter agreement structures), rail, and road transport.

Duties:

Effectively communicate with traders, schedulers, channel optimizers, demand coordinators and other team members to solve problems & develop logistical solutions to ensure optimal deal execution & maintenance of supply to distribution terminals.

Responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient execution of movements in support of trade book contractual agreements.

Responsible to optimize deal execution within deal limits, in terms of both cost minimization and margin maximization.

Serve as logistics expert to commercial in all transport matters– truck, rail, marine & storage.

Serve as an effective liaison between Trading & Supply and the Mobility organization.

Managing product quality parameters/specifications to both ensure compliance with contractual terms as well as maximize profitability.

Ensuring all data pertaining to scheduling, customs, claims/demurrage, and loss/gains are accurately recorded in Trading & Supply systems in a timely manner & enable efficient handling by the relevant service departments.

Daily monitoring of PNL to ensure accuracy

Understand, monitor, and manage physical exposure of purchase/sell agreements

Keeping accurate & adequate records to meet the company’s legal and fiscal obligations, as well as making any required regulatory filings.

Daily updating & monthly reconciliation of inventory at terminals and adhering to end of month financial processes

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3 or more years of industry experience in crude or products operations, trading, shipping, and/or logistics.

Experience with Ethanol Trading & Supply business and its operations will be a strong differentiator.

Working knowledge of RINs/LCFS credit management activities.

Familiarity with products traded by STUSCO and logistical networks utilized by STUSCO & SOPUS strongly preferred.

Ability to effectively multi-task and meet critical deadlines.

Ability to make risk-based and well-reasoned decisions with uncertain information and in the face of material financial risk and operational challenges under tight deadlines.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, as well as sound approach for stakeholder management.

This position is 24x7 in terms of desk coverage and requires significant off-hours support of movements. Accessibility via phone is required at all times.

This position has operational pressure and is regularly demanding, which the successfully candidate should be aware of.

The desk is located on an open trade floor.
