Silk Screen Operator Packer

DEPARTMENT:

FLSA STATUS

: Hourly Non-exempt

PURPOSE:

Ensures the Production objective of safety of all employees, quality of the product and maximum operating efficiency by the utilization of knowledge, training and Decoration Department resources and communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspect and properly package product for shipment to our customers.

Communicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the Plant.

Promotes Safety by following all Plant Safety rules and reports violations and unsafe practices to appropriate Management Personnel.

Promotes GMP policy, product safety and daily cleaning

Prepares boxes for packing

Required to operate the decorators and all auxiliary equipment.

Moves materials into the deco department and to staging area.

Inspects bottles on assigned machines and records findings on check sheets every hour.

Verifies and labels packed boxes.

Wrap finished product after QA release and Warehouse transaction when necessary.

Relieves for breaks and lunch.

Reworks red-tagged product when necessary.

Keeps bottles off the floor at all times.

Keeps work area neat and clean.

All open cartons must be covered.

No extra boxes on the production floor.

Bring out necessary supplies for assigned machines.

Follows defect protocol when defects occur on-line.

Pour and maintain ink in the screens. Wipe screens and squeegee as necessary through the run to correct block outs and other defects.

Remove and clean screens when ripped or to be repaired for leaks or pin holes by Mechanic

Weighing, sealing (tape guns), dumping, stacking and tagging cartons

End of run cleaning, removal of documentation and components for completed job

Remove and record scrap.

Performs other duties as assigned.

All of the above are essential job functions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for ensuring Berry Global, Phillipsburg production is in compliance with all applicable Regulations.

Must be able to lift boxes from floor level to approximately 5ft. high.

Must be able to consistently lift boxes that weigh 35lbs.

Must be able to distinguish between slight variations in color.

Must be able to maintain correct carton and skid count on production form each assigned machine.

Must be able to properly and completely fill out labels and paperwork.

Must be able to visually inspect bottles for defects.

Must be able to verify correct weight and counts.

Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours a day packing bottles in cartons.

Must be able to construct cardboard boxes from collapsed cartons.

Must be able to move skids of finished product with a pallet jack.

Must be able to climb a ladder.

Must be able to sort held ware correctly.

Must be willing and able to work overtime when needed.

Must know and follow all GMP procedures.

Must be able to work safely and follow Safety Rules and Procedures.

Must be able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.

Must be able to wear protective clothing as hair net, uniform, steel toe shoes, gloves, short-sleeved shirt, and earplugs.

Must be able to effectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of others.

Must be able to follow all Department Procedures and Directives.

All of the above are essential job functions.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIP:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Manufacturing experience is preferred.

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
