JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Senior Operations Manufacturing Manager develops and executes strategic initiatives, operations objectives and production goals.  This is an experienced-level position requiring a thorough understanding of company operations, business value stream and business financials.  Establishes and maintains internal and external customer relationships and develops a superior culture of customer service focusing on on-quality and on-time deliveries, Operations Excellence, LEAN and continuous improvement. Executes the production plans, meets cost objectives and makes recommendations on capital expenditures.  Responsible for overseeing Operations for the production and delivery of high quality products on time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishes operational objectives and assignments, and delegates assignments as appropriate to managers/supervisors.   

Manages production activities through managers/supervisors to achieve production objectives, maintain high quality and attain output requirements that are consistent with cost and delivery objectives. 

Manages department activities through managers/supervisors who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, quality, methods, delivery requirements and associates.  Primary responsibility of key production metrics such as Customer On-Time Delivery, plant utilization, past due backlog.

Works in close collaboration with the quality department to identify the root cause of quality escapes and implement corrective actions.

In collaboration with the OpEx team, deploys continuous improvement strategies and implement such strategies throughout the organization resulting in a lean culture.

Analyzes sales forecasts to determine short- and medium-term operations business needs. Drives the SIOP process.

Evaluates equipment capacities, makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and implements new capital equipment within Operations.

Responsible for materials management throughout the facility, including stockroom, and receiving and shipping functions.

Responsible for the customer service function, including order entry, picking process, and customer tactical relations and coordination.

Responsible for determining departmental budgets and labor forecasts.  

Generates the extended production plans for an entire plant and/or a major product line.

Reviews, establishes and prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction and personnel resources.  

Responsible for the scheduling and planning departments and implementation of appropriate adjustments to level-load operations. Performs capacity analyses and define actions to align demand and capacity to ensure customer demand is supported.

Implements new production capabilities and creates new operational methods and processes by recommending changes in equipment, and procedures; and implements departmental standards and practices.

Develop and implements succession plans for managers, supervisors and staff.  

Develops and implements standard work processes to ensure consistencies amongst the operations team to continuously improve quality, efficiency and productivity. 

Management of exempt and nonexempt associates involved in production, assembly, subassembly and fabrication operations.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Frequently interfaces with the customers to coordinate the resolution of production issues, prepares and presents recovery plans to senior management and customers.

Works closely with the Supply Chain department to optimize material availability.

Performs other related duties as required.

MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; and eight years’ experience or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.

Manufacturing Operations experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Aerospace experience preferred

Direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

Operations excellence, LEAN and continues improvement experience

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint)

Able to lead and coordinate multi-functional team projects

Substantial practical knowledge and understanding of products, manufacturing process, specifications and production support requirements
