Microchip is currently seeking a Master Technician – Desktop Support to join our Level 2 Desktop Support Organization. This individual would provide primary end user support to our Lawrence, MA location and will be required to provide remote support to Lowell, MA, Hauppauge, NY, and Simsbury, CT locations. This individual requires a deep understanding of Microsoft Windows 10, Office 365, and solid understanding of Active Directory and Software/Patch Management Deployment Solution and general experience with Server Windows, Unix/Linux, Messaging, Networking, and Storage.
Description of typical duties:
Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for internal desktop systems hardware and software as well as support for network, server, and storage infrastructure for over 300 users.
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots desktop and laptop systems, and network equipment in a heterogeneous environment.
Operates and maintains company's internal data communication systems across multiple platforms. and protocols including WebEx softphone and VoIP technologies.
Analyzes, installs, modifies, and supports operating systems and utilities software.
Supports and troubleshoots basic Unix/Linux requests and issues.
Assist IT Support Manager with Level 1 technical team cross-training plans.
May participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects.
Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
Job may require travel to other Microchip locations in North America.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years supporting Desktop and server operating systems including network services.
Minimum of 3 years of experience with administering Active Directory Services.
Must be willing to work with multiple users at a given day.
Must be able to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
Must have superior customer service skills.
ITIL Foundation V3 or V4 certified
Microsoft Certified Professional
Experience supporting semi-conductor engineering lab environments
Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
Good understanding of standard IT security policies and procedures
