Profile

Responsible for functioning with general supervision from the Production Manager. Managing the day to day activities in the plant for all departments on the off shifts. Achieves these objectives by effectively training and delegating authority to key subordinates in production, quality, sanitation, shipping/receiving, and maintenance. Responsible for providing leadership and insuring clear communication of instructions to create understanding across all departments during the off shift.

Description:

Work Schedule:

Attends regularly and on time to a varying work schedule. To meet the needs of the plant and prioritize goals for projects. Work schedules are self-established and coordinated with the production manager.

II.

Essential Tasks:

1.

Coordinate the short term (day to day) activities in the plant by providing a single point of authority for all departments (production, packaging, sanitation, maintenance, and quality) during the off shift (2nd or mostly 3rd).

2.

Act as the liaison between the off shifts and the department managers.

3.

Keep up and help with the training and review documentation for the hourly employees.

4.

Work on Action plans for continuous improvement of the KPIs so AMs can spend time on the floor and not stuck in the office.

5.

Ensures MOS process and documentation is followed and completed by

the AM and use that documentation as basis for communication with

department managers.

III.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

1.

Must be capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg motions with exertion greater than sedentary work. The manager sits some of the time.

2.

Mental and visual ability to identify various products and read instructions, gauges, thermometers, etc. Performs tasks requiring independent knowledge of the baking process in addition to procedures or instructions provided. Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

3.

Capable of moving up and down ladders and building stairways to reach areas to be observed and inspected in the production process. Tasks require standing, walking, grasping, lifting twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, and hearing.

4.

Capable of understanding complex instructions and reading notices and work schedules.

5.

Manager subject to working inside protected from weather conditions. May be subject to extreme cold temperatures below zero for up to one hour or more when needed in holding freezer.

IV.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1.

Preparation and Training

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized bakery

production field.

2.

Work experience

More than three years of progressively more responsible experience in manufacturing environment is required.

3.

Analytical Ability

A high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to

difficult human, technical or administrative problems.

4.

Independent Judgment and Consequence of Error

Works under general direction and exercised a high level of independent judgment. Has wide latitude for independent action. Errors would result in significant cost in time, money and administrative confusion.

5.

Contact with Others

Daily communications with all levels of management and subordinates relating to operation on the shift.

6.

Supervision of Others

Responsible for supervision of employment, training, and disciplinary actions for employees on the shift. Directly accountable for results obtained by each department on shift.

Participates in short-term development of production process for quality, efficiency and increased capacity.
