STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for a Tool & Die Lead in our Tool and Die department! As the department lead, you will oversee and participate in the fabrication and repair of molds, tools, dies, and fixtures, providing assistance to less experienced tool and die associates and resolving difficult or unusual problems.

Organizes and assigns work to best utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, machines and tooling. Work will be assigned in such a manner as to ensure most efficient use of all resources while providing most favorable results of quality, workmanship and availability.
Participates in the design and testing of new tools and molds. Analyzes machining and tooling problems, machine malfunctions, etc., to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures. Ensures minimal production down time due to tooling problems.
Maintains appropriate levels of labor in accordance with skill requirements, work levels and schedules, labor hour and training programs.
Uses technical expertise to determine solutions for mold problems or fixture work. Schedules and supervises these and other repairs in coordination with other functional departments.
Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts and molds. Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
Uses advanced knowledge in plastic injection molding to drive mold improvements or advanced knowledge in machining technology to drive process improvements.
High school degree or equivalent plus graduation from certified Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program and possession of a Journeyman card.
10 years of related experience (can substitute for Journeyman card).
Frequent standing, occasional walking or sitting; using of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
