Quidel is searching for a Production Technician III to work at our manufacturing facility in the Sorrento Valley Area of San Diego. The purpose of this position is to schedule, perform, and oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of production equipment. Taking ownership of assignments directed at improving total operating efficiency, minimizing equipment downtime and improving internal administrative processes are key elements for this role. The Production Technician II will also interacts heavily with other Production Technicians, Production Associates and internal team members such as Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, Production Managers and contract service providers. This role will be required to work on-call shifts as needed. Additional responsibilities include:
Responding to trouble calls from Production Operators, providing assistance with equipment set-up, material change-out, line clearance, and basic operation.
Coordinating efforts with outside vendors and contract service providers to accomplish objectives.
Performing routine preventative maintenance on production equipment utilizing the MP2 system.
Troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical issues with limited supervision and guidance.
Lifting and moving equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A technical degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with production equipment and systems is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience with electrical applications up to 480 volts is preferred.
Experience with hand and power tools and their associated safety procedures is required. Experience working in GMP/ISO 9000 manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience working in high paced manufacturing environment
Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of QSR/ISO 9001 is preferred.
Understanding and application of safety procedures
Strong abilities in the areas of communication, cooperation, interpersonal skills and documentation
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
Basic skills with machine lathe, mill and welding is preferred
Basic computer skills including, file management, MS Word, and preventative maintenance software
Ability to lift moderate to heavy equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
