As a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, you will have opportunities to learn and manage the manufacturing assembly, test, and packaging processes of all Markforged products, including printers, furnaces, and other systems. You will report to the Operations Engineering Lead and participate in building strong relationships with contract manufacturers (CM) and critical sub-tier suppliers while working closely with internal engineering and operation teams. Ideally, you will also have a strong background in engineering and quality. In addition, this individual must be self-motivated, have exceptional communication skills, handle multiple project assignments, and be willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.
Opportunities Abound for our Co-Ops!
Learn to Identify DFM/A opportunities, mitigate project/products risks, and perform cost/benefit analysis
Improve the manufacturability and cost of hardware built at 3rd party manufacturers through tools such as process capability studies, process/test design, cell layouts, time-studies, inspection protocols, supplier qualification, continuous improvement projects, and work instruction documentation
Design and implement robust tooling/fixture solutions to improve process control and production throughput
Support process qualifications and capability studies (custom test fixture validation, Gage R&R, DOEs, FMEA’s, etc)
Oversee the development, generation, and validation of work instructions, tooling/fixtures, equipment calibration, testing, quality forms, and drawings throughout the NPI process

Gain the skills to drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
Although we list out what we generally look for, we are very likely missing other attributes and skills you have that could make you a great fit but are not currently listed. The point we’re getting at, it doesn’t hurt to take a chance and apply! Research has shown
this especially applies to women and other marginalized groups, who tend to apply if they check 100% of every box, versus men who apply if they hit roughly 60%.
