This work must comply with all applicable corporate, state and federal regulation/policies. The Maintenance Department’s function is to provide outstanding customer service to the manufacturing and support groups in all areas of the plant through preventative/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrading of plant processing, packaging and the filling line equipment.Major Responsibilities:Repair gear heads and reducers; run all types of piping including black iron, stainless steel, copper, PVC and flexible tubing; install various components including: seals, bearings, o-rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears and sheaves; troubleshoot repair / rebuild centrifugal / positive displacement pumps; fabricate parts directly from blueprints; weld stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum; fabricate guards, etc. out of sheet metal and lexan; cutting of metal with a plasma cutter or torch; machining of parts on a lathe or mill for replacement of repair or worn parts; wire and repair electric motors; repair basic wiring and replace lighting fixtures and lamps; correct size fusing, motor overload protection and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC); read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams; use of electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.Proficient in performing repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems; troubleshooting complex, high-speed filling, packaging and conveying equipment; make machine adjustments to liquid line seamers, bottle sealers and bottle cappers; adjust timing systems such as rotary sterilizers or traywrappers for proper operation; ensure proper operation of electrical / mechanical components and devices (push buttons, switches, timers, solenoids, electrical disconnects, AC and DC motors); troubleshoot and repair variable frequency drives, filtecs, taptones, barcode scanners, video-jet ink printers, vision systems and computer control systems.Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting problems with AC drive systems and PLCs. Bble to access and interpret PLC logic via a laptop computer or desktop station using the appropriate communication language. Properly maintaining a PLC requires the understanding of the wiring schematics.Can install and wire an AC drive which requires and understanding of current flow and the theory of operation for the drive. Primary PLCs and drives in the plant include, but are not limited to: Allan Bradley, Modicon and Delta V and the associated communication packages.Follow all plant and department procedures, GMP’s and plant safety rules. Keep all work areas cleanHousekeeping of the shop is primarily the responsibility of everyone working in the area.Lead other employees including directing other maintenance personnel on the job and providing OJT for employees new to the department.Properly use the plant work order system and follow all stockroom procedures.Audit equipment and develop replacement part lists.Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.Including but not limited to troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical high-speed filling, packaging equipment and utilities; making machine adjustments; timing mechanical systems for proper operation; electrical / mechanical skills with utility systems; machining or welding parts, experience with reading blueprints and schematics, experience with pumps, motors and drives; knowledge of the use of precision tools / instruments.Accountable for maintaining various hand tools and equipment; drills, winches, micrometers, calipers, torches, welders, lathe, mill, multimeter, etc. Failure to maintain will result in replacement of tools and equipment.Accountable for maintaining all plant systems and machines.
