Role Summary
The Engineering Specialist will be an expert of valve design, development and industry code standards. The Specialist Engineer must possess and be able to demonstrate a strong technical background and education to support valve design and development, production related issues and complex orders.
The Engineering Specialist will be working with a global team of engineers supporting the Specialty Ball Valve product family, which includes soft and metal seated ball valves developed for a variety of applications and industries. The Engineering Specialist will be expected to use his skill set to support new product development (NPD) and existing product enhancements, aimed at improving valve performance in all areas and across wide temperature ranges to support the energy transition and increasingly stringent customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
Take ownership of ‘Engineer to Order’ (ETO) projects from valve selection/quotation/design through shipment and customer support. This includes specification review, creation of technical engineering reports, creating testing and other miscellaneous procedures, dealing with production challenges, and interfacing with customers as needed.
Take ownership in supporting new product developments throughout the project lifecycle, including creating product requirement specifications based on market requirements, supporting product design and development, validation testing and ensuring manufacturing readiness.
Provide leadership and support to other Engineers to help train them technically and professionally.
Provide guidance and support as an industry expert in ASME B&PV Code.
Fully support plant wide continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost reduction initiatives by contributing to an active CIP/lean program within the engineering department.
Drive personal, departmental, and plant success through well-defined metrics and balance multiple priorities simultaneously
Qualification/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
10 years’ experience in a valve engineering manufacturing environment
Professional/Chartered Engineering status
Experience using 3D CAD and FEA packages.
Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and how it relates to pressure vessels for certification and testing requirements.
Must have a high sense of urgency to plan and execute order requirements to meet shipment schedule as well as deal with ongoing shop floor issues, customer issues, and documentation creation.
Interpersonal skills are critical for optimum communication with cross-functional departments as well as internal and external customers.
Aptitude for mechanical and analytical work, with the ability to analyze situations and make sound recommendations.
Ability to produce professional engineering reports and presentations in keeping with company policies & objectives.
Lean mentality with an attitude for continuous improvement, looking for ways to advance plant and Engineering processes
Preferred Experience
Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD and ANSYS FEA
An advanced degree in an Engineering based discipline, e.g. MS, M.Sc., PhD
Direct involvement on ASME B&PV Code
Global mindset with the ability to understand, help plan, and execute a comprehensive strategy for ball valve product lines
Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Experience designing or testing products in cryogenic environments
