We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Cost Accountant at our corporate headquarters located in Dallas, Texas.

 

Essential Job Duties:

 


Provide accounting services to the Silicates manufacturing operations by establishing and maintaining control over accounting activities and records required to properly record and document financial transactions. This includes cost accounting, financial month-end and year-end closings, production and inventory accounting, account analysis and government reporting.
Ensure the financial reporting and accounting process is timely, accurate, and meets management’s needs. Directs, interprets, and maintains the consistent and proper application of sound and generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, internal controls, and financial policies, procedures and systems.
Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of accounting data, effectiveness of existing accounting procedures and controls, and makes recommendations for improvement. Develops, recommends and implements accounting practices to promote consistency, application of best practices, task automation and efficiencies.
Provide direction to plant management for opportunities focused on cost management by providing cost performance data and analysis, training, and promoting cost awareness.
Take a lead role in preparing and organizing the monthly manufacturing cost outlook and the annual plan for the Silicates manufacturing sites.
Take on a variety of monthly reporting duties and assist supervisor with ad-hoc reports and analysis.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (with a minimum of 18 hours of Accounting)
3 years of accounting experience
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Prioritization, organization, and timely decision-making skills.


 

Additional Desired Qualifications:


Master's in Accounting / Finance, CPA or CMA
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Open to future relocation
Experience with integrated ERP accounting systems (SAP, PAx, BW)
